It is with a heavy heart that we share the sudden passing away of Shri.V.V.Subramanian (known affectionately as VVS), Secretary of the Board of Trustees of our partner hospital, Hindu Mission Hospital Tiruchirapalli, Tamizh Nadu.

Shri VVS served at the hospital since 2009 and was responsible for introducing services such as free artificial limbs, eye surgeries and dialysis services for the poor. He personally funded many of the services provided by the hospital and established successful partnerships with several local organizations to further the impact. He was known for his soft, compassionate ways of interacting with patients and staff.

“My son Akhil and I met him this(2022) summer for a media project for Sankara Healthcare Foundation in Srirangam. His passion to reach out and help others was evident in our conversation where he stressed that at no point in his decade long service , he wanted to give an impression that we are doing a favor for these people and they depend on us for their lives. Rather, as His Holiness Shri Periyava would say, he reiterated that we are given an opportunity to serve the society and we should be grateful. His humility and down to earth trait was special.” – Shri Srinivasan Venkitasubramanian, Sankara volunteer

Several Sankara Teens and parents have had the good fortune of interacting with him on their visits to the hospital to see their impact first hand. Shri VVS was always available and was always generous with his valuable time to explain and show them the charitable medical work being done.

“I was immensely touched and inspired by his passion for his work and his dedication to treating every patient with dignity and respect. He quoted Shri Mahaperiyava’s words that everyone should try to set aside one day every week for charitable work. His kind words and advice will continue to impact me throughout my life” – Smt. Archana Sunil, Sankara Volunteer

Shri VVS’s kind words and soft smile will be missed by all.
