Sankara Healthcare Foundation Inc. – Youth Leadership Award
Sankara Healthcare Foundation’s Youth Leadership Award(SYLA) is an annual award conferred upon a current Sankara youth volunteer in recognition of their leadership initiatives and achievements, through innovative ways of broadening Sankara’s short and long term impact. Awardees are selected by Sankara based upon information submitted in a candidate’s application and an internal review by the Board.
Qualifying Criteria
Proposed, received approval for and initiated a new Sankara program, or launched an existing Sankara program in a new region, involving other youth in the program. The program must have been administered actively for the equivalent of at least an entire school year, resulting in well documented outcomes such as – procedure documents, periodic/regular HEAL meals served, donation/collection drives held, funds raised, number of events/audiences where Sankara’s work was presented to create awareness, impact on Medha families, short and long term impacts and plans, and other metrics. The program should also demonstrate continuity with either the same team, or by transitioning the program to a new team for the following year or time-period. The Board’s decision is final.
Application
Applications will be accepted between July 1st and July 31st every year, beginning 2025. Eligible leadership activities need to be completed during the school year preceding July. If the board’s review results in an eligible candidate/s, the award will be announced between August and September of each year.
The application process will require a detailed statement about the accomplishments and impacts of the applicants. Check the application requirements so you have everything needed ahead of time.
