The physiotherapy program is a project that is done in conjunction with our partner hospital, HMHS Nanganallur. Physiotherapy  is used to treat injuries (many times caused by illnesses) that limit a person’s abilities to move and perform functional activities as well as they would like in their daily lives. Physiotherapy, in many cases, helps restore movement and function when someone is affected by injury, illness or disability.  This includes providing therapeutic treatment in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors.

The approach combines the patients health history with a physical examination to arrive at a diagnosis and establish a management plan. Physiotherapy includes prescription of or assistance with specific exercises, manual therapy and manipulation using mechanical devices such as traction, physical agents which includes heat, cold, electricity, sound waves, radiation, rays, prescription of assistive devices, prostheses, orthoses and other interventions.

In addition, physiotherapy helps prevent the loss of mobility before it occurs by developing fitness and wellness-oriented programs for healthier and more active lifestyles, providing services to individuals and populations to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout the lifespan.

Physiotherapy takes a holistic approach, that involves the patient directly in their own care. Physiotherapy increases longevity and overall musculoskeletal health and has, in a majority of cases, proven to be more effective than pain management with medication.

The physiotherapy department caters to the large number of cases in Nanganallur increasing longevity and overall muscular and skeletal health of individuals.

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of cases requiring physiotherapy with approximately 470 new cases each week adding up to nearly 2000 cases each month.

We need your generous donations to expand and improve our current physiotherapy facilities and accommodate the increasing number of cases.

You can help in many ways!
